Morocco supporters took to the streets of the Belgian capital on Thursday after the North African nation beat Canada 2-1 in the World Cup in Qatar.

The victory meant the North African nation advanced to the knockout stage of the tournament for the first time since 1986.

Morocco's success had sparked angry street riots in Belgium after a match earlier this week, but Thursday's win triggered an outpouring of joy in Brussels.

Security had been increased and police kept a close eye on the football supporters as they celebrated in the streets.
