Today's weather forecast indicates severe thunderstorms with heavy downpours, the potential for large hail, damaging winds and excessive lightning are expected along Mpumalanga's escarpment and the Highveld's south-eastern parts. A cool onshore flow, lots of low to mid-level clouds and a few light showers this Thursday and the weekend for the coastal provinces. Extreme heat and discomfort are expected for the Lowveld, with temperatures reaching 40°C in some places. Typical afternoon to evening isolated thunderstorms are possible over eastern South Africa. Mostly cloudy with a few showers expected today over the eastern and northern areas of the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal (Credit: Vox Weather).
