For decades, the Eastern Cape has been producing some great talent when It comes to music. When one traces the roots and history of jazz music in South Africa, the Eastern Cape features prominently, It is also home to many multi-awards winning artists such as The Late Zim Ngcawana, Ringo Madlingozi, Simphiwe Dana, Zahara, Siphokazi, Jaziel Brothers, Ntando, Loyiso Bala, and Zonke, to name just a few. All these artists have had to come to Johannesburg to record and develop their music, But with the launch of the Eastern Cape Audio Visual record label, most musicians will need not come to Joburg in search of record companies. Award winning Afro-Jazz musician and music educator, Sy Ntuli tells us more about this great initiative.
